The Wind & The Reckoning was in competition at the Boston Film Festival on September 24. As far as I know, Ian didn’t attend the event. The movie took home 8 awards and will be screened at several film festivals in October.
The first episode of The Wingfeather Saga will air on December 2.
MacGyver guest star Sheryl Lee Ralph (Mama Colton) won a Primetime Emmy as “Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series” in Abbott Elementary.

Justin Hires keeps doing comedy shows and podcast episodes. He released a new episode of his Urban Legendz Podcast with actor and comedian Alex Thomas. He did a short studio interview for the FOX Carolina News before a show in Greenville a few weeks ago.
ICYMI: Justin wrote a first draft for the sequel to Half Baked. The movie will film in Lousiana in October and November. There have been public calls for crew, but there are no news yet regarding the cast.

MacGyver showrunner Monica Macer did an interview for the Navigating Hollywood podcast; talking about the difficulties of a virtual writers room, not getting enough rest and about working with a new team during a pandemic. She also provided us with a new/old BtS photo.
The last sighting of Lucas Till was over a month ago. He hasn’t tweeted in over a year, either. We did get a new/old sighting of George Eads though; apparently taken in August.

ICYMI: Tristin Mays is renting out two of her homes by the hour for photoshoots. One of them is listed as The Enchanted Manor, the other one being the Atlanta home she lived in during filming MacGyver, formerly named The Disco Room (listed as Boho Loft).
On September 16, she attended a Netflix-Screening in LA. Otherwise, she’s been rather quiet in recent weeks. Back in August, she hinted at us knowing soon why she woke up in burlap lint, but she didn’t provide any further hints. (Interestingly, she recently started following actor Román Zaragoza, who portrays a Native American on CBS show Ghosts, and who sort of wears a “burlap sack” as a costume.)

Fall TV Season ICYMI: The only CBS show currently filming in Georgia area is True Lies (which had moved production after filming the pilot in Toronto). Several former MacGyver crew members (mostly stuntpeople) work on the show.
So far, none of the MacGyver cast or of the writers is attached to any of the CBS rookie shows, but CBS and the networks in general seem slow on updating show information on IMDb this year. Writer Stephanie Hicks is on NBC show The Rookie: Feds. Jim Adler is still working on ABC show The Good Doctor.

MacGyver Reboot writer Andrew Klein co-wrote the script for RIPD 2: Rise of the Damned, one of Lenkov’s upcoming TV movies. The streaming premiere is set for November 15.
What are Cast and Crew up to? ICYMI: End of June, we got two photos of Lucas Till with Bob Zellner (presumably for an event by Shirts Across America). On July 13, we got a new sighting of Lucas attending a bachelor party in Austin, Texas. His mother Dana Till provided new photos of herself with her sons on July 23.

Levy Tran’s movie Secret Headquarters will premiere on August 5 on Paramount+. They released an official poster plus the trailer on July 14. There’s just a tiny glimpse of Levy in the trailer, so I’m hoping for more material. About 50 Official Stills have been added on IMDb, but Levy isn’t on any of them and her character doesn’t have a name yet.
Justin Hires was out and about in Atlanta this week. It looks like he filmed a project with some fellow comedians, but we don’t have further information yet. It might be a commercial or a comedy bit. According to an Insta Story a week ago, he also took a Pole Dance Lesson.

ICYMI: Henry Ian Cusick attended Mississippi Comic Con; happily posing with fans on photo ops (sometimes even as Russ Taylor). On July 4th, he spent time with some of his LOST-costars in Hawaii. As Deadline reported on July 18, he’s been cast as a recurring character on the 3rd season of ABC show Big Sky.
Tristin Mays hasn’t posted much since wrapping her scenes for Bang, a movie co-written and produced by Ex-Showrunner Peter Lenkov. We got an Instagram Story sighting of her with Alain Uy (who guest-starred in MacGyver Reboot Episode 5×14). He didn’t give any information about location and reasons, but it looked like they’re standing in front of a stage set wall. There was also a sighting at a friend’s birthday party this week.

MacGyver on DVD ICYMI: In Germany, the Season 5 DVD was released on June 30. All the extras (deleted and extended scenes for Episodes 5×06, 5×13, 5×14 and 5×15) have a runtime of about 9 minutes. You can order the DVD here. On the same day, they also released the German version of the Complete Series Box Set with 24 discs. The bonus material is the same as for the single season editions.
In Japan, the Special Selection Season 4 DVD Box and the Season 5 DVD were both released on July 6.

MacGyver on ionTV Since July 11, ion Televisionairs several episodes of Leverage: Redemption on Mondays. To make room on the schedule, ionTV reduced the number of MacGyver reruns; airing 10 episodes instead of 16. The second cycle of reruns will end on August 8; followed by the start of the third cycle on the same day.

CBS Pilot Season (encore) ICYMI: NBC has ordered 20 more episodes of Magnum PI; split into two seasons. There’s no release date and they haven’t started filming yet, so it will probably be a midseason show. According to the writers, they will have the same writing crew as for Season 4, so there might be a chance of Levy’s character coming back for another guest appearance.
So far, none of the MacGyver cast or of the writers is attached to any of the rookie shows, though some of the MacGyver writers are still working on other CBS shows (e.g. Star Trek).

Tristin Mays has wrapped her scenes for Bang, a movie co-written and produced by Ex-Showrunner Peter Lenkov. During downtime, they visited an Elephant Resort, took a boat ride or had dinner in a rooftop restaurant. She hasn’t posted for a while. It’s possible she has left Thailand by now.
Henry Ian Cusick has been cast as the voice actor for “Peet the Sock Man” on the Wingfeather Saga; an animated series based on the books by Andrew Peterson. Last week, he attended Mississippi Comic Con; happily posing with fans on photo ops (sometimes even as Russ Taylor).

MacGyver The Musical ICYMI: Last month, they finished recording the MacGyver musical concept album – or so we thought. As it turns out, there is a contest of who will sing as MacGyver. The winner will be flown to New York City for a recording session. Check here for more information (e.g. submission guidelines) or check out the announcement by Tristin.

CBS Pilot Season (encore) A while ago, CBS and their affiliate network The CW cancelled almost a dozen shows. This morning, they also axed Tom Swift, the CW show MacGyver-writer Teresa Huang had worked on. One of the set designers of the Reboot had also worked on Tom Swift in Atlanta, which is why he had been able to re-design the Phoenix Foundation stage plane and bring it over to the new stage location.

In further news, cast contracts for Magnum PI ran out yesterday, and it looks like they waited until the last moment to get negotiations done. According to Deadline, NBC has ordered 20 more episodes split into two seasons. There’s no information yet when filming is supposed to start.
Even though the show is saved, there probably won’t be any characters of fully-owned CBS shows (e.g. Angus MacGyver) showing up for a crossover. I’m also not sure if Levy Tran could come back as the character she played in Season 4. It might depend on the writer’s room (aka which writers and producers will be brought back).

MacGyver The Musical ICYMI: Back in March, MacGyver-creator Lee David Zlotoff revealed that they’re going to put together a concept album of the songs used for the musical. On May 9, Tristin Mays announced that Lee had asked her to sing a song for the album.
On May 16, recording started in NY; finishing already two days later. We got to see some Instagram Stories of the musical cast rehearsing beforehand, and the official MacGyver account shared a sneak peek of Tristin in the recording booth.

There’s no release dates yet for the album or the next iteration of the musical. According to an Instagram Story by Mike Dorsey, the album will be out in September. As Yasir Muhammad posted, they’re trying to get a Broadway production set up and running.
MacGyver on ionTV ICYMI: Reruns of the MacGyver Reboot air every Monday on ion Television. With ionTV scheduling 16 episodes per week, the first run will be done by next week; starting another run immediately after the Season 5 finale has aired.
Interestingly, ionTV has already announced on their website that Leverage: Redemption will air on Mondays; starting July 11. At the moment, the Monday schedule has one episode of NCIS: New Orleans, followed by 5 episodes of NCIS: LA and 16 episodes of MacGyver.

It’s not clear if MacGyver will stay or if they will simply reduce the episodes. While NCIS: LA fans have been very vocal and speaking out against the Reboot, they might get their wish to get MacGyver gone, but also lose the reruns of their own favourite show in the process.
I’ve seen a lot of posts on Twitter and FB recently by people who just started watching the MacGyver Reboot on ionTV, not knowing about the show before. But with the Complete Series DVD Box Set coming out soon in the US, it’s also possible that CBS wants to “kill” it in syndication for now so that people watch it on Paramount+ and buy the DVDs. I’ve seen posts about the show leaving Amazon Prime in some countries this month; right on time either the Season 5 DVD or the Complete Series DVD Box Set comes out.

What are Cast and Crew up to? Most of the MacGyver cast seem to have disappeared from social media. Justin Hires is the only one posting daily; promoting his comedy shows or podcasts. He mentioned turning down several TV show offers, so we probably won’t seem him on our TV screens anytime soon (unless it’s in reruns).

CBS cancelled Magnum PI, the last of the Lenkoverse shows. The CW axed Batwoman who had Javicia Leslie as the lead character in Season 2.
Generally, a show isn’t really cancelled on a network until they release the “Post Mortem Interview” with a showrunner; talking about what would have happened the next season. (Because if the show was renewed against all odds on the same network, showrunners or writers might change and they wouldn’t be able or willing to recycle the same ideas or visions the previous showrunners or writers had.)
Magnum PI never got one of those, so I was sure that something was going on behind the scenes. As Deadline reported yesterday, talks are underway for NBC and/or USA Network to keep the show going.

The Phoenix Foundation plane set ended up being repurposed for the new CW Show Tom Swift that premiered this week. MacGyver-writer Teresa Huang and several former crew members work on the show which is filmed in Atlanta.
Secret Headquarters will premiere on Paramount+ instead of in theatres. Levy Tran worked on the movie in Atlanta. She’s still not listed on the IMDb entry, so her part might be smaller than I hoped.
MacGyver The Musical MacGyver the Musical had premiered in February in Houston; running several shows a week for a month. Back in March, MacGyver-creator Lee David Zlotoff revealed that they’re going to put together a concept album of the songs.
Last month, the official Instagram account asked the fans who they would like to hear on the album; no matter if the singer is famous or not. The posts have been deleted by now; but I do remember us fans suggesting anyone from the MacGyver cast (rebooted or original version). On May 9, Tristin Mays announced that Lee asked her to sing a song for the album.

I did see some stories of the musical cast rehearsing this week, but nothing from Tristin (or any Tristin sightings during rehearsals). There’s no release dates yet for the album or the next iteration of the musical.
MacGyver on ionTV ICYMI: On May 2nd, the MacGyver Reboot premiered on ion Television. They’ve scheduled about 16 episodes each Monday. There was more advertizing on social media than CBS did for Season 5. On April 24, ionTV tweeted about the main characters; providing some info for new viewers unfamiliar with Team Phoenix. They also changed the Twitter header and their profile photo for the occasion. On the following days, they posted posters and trailers. Some of the cast joined the promotion; e.g. Tristin Mays with a BtS video of Episode 5×09.

MacGyver Profits Lawsuit (encore) ICYMI: The 2018 profits lawsuit stems from a TV producing deal in the mid-1980s (involving several producers, Paramount and Major Talent Agency) that preceded the original MacGyver show. After the series was rebooted in 2016, Hanzer Holdings and Arlita sued CBS; claiming they’re entitled to a share in profits for MTA’s work for the OG show.
An April trial was pushed back for settlement discussions. As The Hollywood Reporter stated on May 9, terms of the agreement to resolve the lawsuit have been fully executed. A notice of settlement to dismiss the case will be filed by June 23.

CBS Pilot Season In the Spotted Ratings forum, the Thursday before Upfronts Week is called Bloody Thursday (because traditionally, cancellation news come on Thursday and Friday). And bloody it was, indeed. In total, CBS and their affiliate network The CW cancelled almost a dozen shows within the last few days (CW even more shows than in the last 5 years combined).

CBS also cancelled Magnum PI, the last of the Lenkoverse shows. That means that Levy Tran won’t be back as a guest star in her Magnum PI character (unless they bring her back to another show in the same universe; e.g. one of the NCIS shows).
CBS ordered three rookie drama shows to series while passing on all the comedy pilots. The definite schedule will be presented at the Upfronts on May 18. So far, none of the former MacGyver cast members is attached to any of these new shows.

What are Cast and Crew up to? A few days ago, we got a new Lucas Till sighting in Atlanta. The photos were provided by MacGyver Writer Teresa Huang (who’s currently living in Atlanta while working on CW show Tom Swift). They met up with TV writer Helen Shang (who worked with Ex-Showrunner Peter Lenkov on Season 7 of Hawaii Five-0). Lucas and Helen had connected while working on the Vanity Fair article about Lenkov.

Henry Ian Cusick attended a private screening of his upcoming movie The Wind and the Reckoning at the Hawaiian Film Festival HIFF. The project was filmed back in 2020 in Hawaii; with Peter Lenkov as Executive Producer and Lenkov’s production company attached. Ian posed on the red carpet with producers, directors and co-stars.
Tristin Mays also attended a red carpet event for a movie premiere (sadly, not for a movie she worked on).
Justin Hires is back to regular stand-up comedy shows. A few weeks ago, he did an interview for the Season 4 promo on Universal TV in Latin America. He also uploaded a new episode onto his Urban Legendz Podcast.

George Eads was set to attend a golfing event (Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am) on April 11. He didn’t show up in any photos of the event (or even on the score results), so he probably didn’t attend after all.
MacGyver on DVD In the US, the Complete Series DVD Box concluding 21 discs will be released on June 14. You can pre-order it here. Interestingly, the box set has the cover of the Season 5 poster while no release date for a single Season 5 DVD edition is available yet for the US.

In German-spaking regions, Universal Pictures will release the Season 5 DVD plus the complete series box set on June 30. You can pre-order the Season 5 DVD here. There’s no info yet about any Season 5 bonus material.
The German version of the DVD Box contains 24 discs and has a different cover than the US version. According to Amazon Germany, there’s three language options (German, English, French). So far, the bonus material listed is the same as for Seasons 1 and 2.
In Japan, the Special Selection Season 4 DVD Box and the Season 5 DVD will both be released on July 6.

MacGyver on ionTV Starting next month, the MacGyver Reboot will be aired Mondays on ion Television. At the moment, they’ve scheduled the first 16 episodes of Season 1 on May 2nd. To make room, the network reduces the number of episodes for CBS shows NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: LA; sandwiching MacGyver in between. As you can imagine, NCIS fans are not happy.
The show got their own page on the ion website. For promo, they’re using a mix of the S1 promo photos (for Mac and Jack) and of the S4 photoshoot (for the characters and the actor bios) plus some created art with paperclips, matches or SAKs. So far, they’ve released a bunch of Insta Stories and a Teaser Trailer and sent out the occasional tweet.

All in all, they do more advertizing on social media than CBS did for Season 5. Many people don’t discover shows until they catch reruns on streaming or on other networks. Therefore, the MacGyver Reboot might pull in new fans who didn’t give the show a chance before.
CBS Pilot Season CBS ordered at least 9 pilots for Pilot Season and opened a writers room for at least two more shows (which might get ordered straight to series). There are several CBS shows still waiting for their renewal. The definite schedule will be presented at the Upfronts on May 18.

So far, none of the former MacGyver cast members is officially attached to any of the rookie shows. Some will hopefully get a guest star spot in later episodes.
There’s also no news about The Spook who sat by the Door (which Lucas Till filmed a pilot for) or the Flashdance series (which Tristin Mays was interested in; taking ballet lessons). It looks like both projects are still in the re-development stage; though it’s possible we get some Flashdance news at the CBS Upfronts.

Henry Ian Cusick recently filmed a project in Phuket. On April 4, there was a private screening of his upcoming movie The Wind and the Reckoning. The movie was filmed back in 2020 in Hawaii; with Ex-Showrunner Peter Lenkov as Executive Producer.
Justin Hires is back to weekly stand-up comedy shows. He decided to stop his Patreon for now; stating that he has too much on his plate at the moment.

Tristin Mays is quite active on social media; posting new and old material. On April 3, she spent the day with Peter Lenkov and some of his supporters; watching a Rugby Game. She also posed for some fan photos.
Understandably, many fans were quite upset about this; some of them worrying that even if the show had the potential of being renewed or getting a wrap-up-movie, Lucas Till wouldn’t want to be part of it anymore or would only come back if the Lenkov supporters among the regular and recurring cast don’t.

CBS Pilot Season CBS is still in the process of filming their Pilot Season dramas and comedies. By ordering at least 9 pilots so far, some shows on the current schedule might get pushed to midseason or streaming to make room. While the NCIS trifecta has been renewed, there are several CBS shows still waiting for their renewal. The definite schedule will be presented at the Upfronts on May 18.
So far, none of the former MacGyver cast members seem to be attached as regulars or recurrings. Some will hopefully get a guest star spot in later episodes. Since NCIS has already been renewed, Meredith Eaton might come back in her recurring role as Carol Wilson.

MacGyver around the World In German-spaking regions, Universal Pictures is distributor of the DVDs. The Season 5 DVD release date of the German DVD version has been set for June 30. There’s no information yet about any bonus material, but you can pre-order it here. There’s no release date yet for the US or other countries.
On the same day, Universal Pictures will release a DVD box set of the complete series. The bonus material listed so far is the same as for Seasons 1 and 2 in Europe; e.g. about filming the pilot, the Watch! Magazine photo shoot for Season 1, several Featurettes (MacHacks, Special Effects, Props and MacGyver in Cuba) plus Gag Reels and Deleted Scenes.

Universal TV has done quite a bit of promo this week for the Season 4 premiere in Latin America. Justin Hires tweeted yesterday that he’s doing press via zoom, so we might get to enjoy a new interview soon.
Additionally, ion Television teased on Twitter and Instagram that they have programmed the MacGyver Reboot into their upcoming line-up.
Other MacGyver-related News There are electronic billboards (as lift / escalator panels) hanging in London to raise awareness for the #SaveMacGyver movement. The official SaveMacGyver website and social media accounts get updated regularly; so check there to keep up with news. They launched a bunch of tweets yesterday to “celebrate” what the Reboot fans consider to be their personal “Cairo Day” – the cancellation of their favourite show.

Even a year later, the cancellation seems unfair since a lot of new fans are discovering the show just now in reruns on streaming (e.g. IMDb) or on other networks (e.g. The CW). Other CBS shows do very well on ionTV, a network that schedules several episodes of the same show in a row every week which makes it perfect for binge-watching. I predict the MacGyver Reboot to charm new fans who didn’t give the show a chance before.
FunFact: On Star Trek: Picard (Paramount +), there was mention of a privatized military organization called “Spearhead Operations”. As MacGyver fans know, Russ Taylor (played by Henry Ian Cusick) founded Spearhead Operations. Therefore, MacGyver is canon in Star Trek. Where’s that crossover episode?

What are Cast and Crew up to? Yesterday, Lucas Till’s movie Son of the South arrived in German theaters. On Wednesday, Lucas and Nicole Ansari-Cox plus director Barry Alexander Brown had attended the premiere event in Berlin. It was nice seeing Lucas smiling, posing for a photocall and signing all those MacGyver photographs. There are a lot of fan photos on social media.
Barry will do a Q&A-Tour across Germany for cinematic screenings in several cities (Hamburg, Köln, Heidelberg, Heilbronn, München). Lucas might also attend some more of these screenings (presumably, he will attend at least the one in München), so fans might get to see more photos popping up on social media in the next few days. We don’t know if he’ll enjoy some days off in Germany or if he has other “duties” (e.g. talk show appearances or interviews) in between the screenings.

The movie will also air at the Deauville Film Festival (Festival du Cinéma Américain de Deauville) in France, which is running from September 3rd to September 12. There’s no official schedule yet on the website, but the French distributor tweeted that the premiere will be on Wednesday, September 8. According to AlloCiné, the cinematic premiere in France has been pushed to December 1st.
There will be restricted access and a limitation of visitors due to the pandemic, but Deauville will still attract a bigger crowd of journalists and maybe even a few paparazzi. There haven’t been many film festivals due to the pandemic in Europe and in several countries, theatres had been closed over Summer. Although the movie is not in competition, I’m sure we can expect at least an official photocall with photos in HD quality plus some more interviews.

There’s still no official news yet if The Spook who sat by the Door has been picked up to series. Tristin Mays seems to have disappeared a bit; leaving her dog Sergeant in the care of a friend – but we don’t know if it was for a holiday or for work. Henry Ian Cusick is set to appear at the Dream It Convention on September 19.
MacGyver in Germany To Recap: Episode 5×12 (Royalty + Marriage + Vivaah Sanskar + Zinc + Henna) had an audience of 0.73 million live-viewers and a market-share of 3.3%, followed by Episode 5×13 (Barn Find + Engine Oil + La Punzonatura + Lab Rats + Tachometer) with 0.83 million live-viewers and a market-share of 3.7%. The second episode was followed by the German version of Celebrity Big Brother.
Episode 5×14 (H2O + Orthophosphates + Mission City + Corrosion + Origins) got 0.9 million live-viewers and a market-share of 3.5%, followed by Episode 5×15 (Abduction + Memory + Time + Fireworks + Dispersal) with 0.84 million live-viewers and a market-share of 3.5% as well.
Looking at Season 5, Episode 5×04 had the highest audience numbers in Germany and Episode 5×11 the lowest. The lack of promotion by the network certainly didn’t help in getting as good ratings as in former seasons. It still did better in ratings than FBI: Most Wanted or Magnum PI that have also been on German TV in recent months.

The #SaveMacGyver Movement The MacGyver Con, a virtual event by the fans, for the fans will be held this weekend (August 28 and 29). The panels are pre-recorded and there will be raffles with MacGyver-related prizes.
We got several little panel teasers; e.g. of the panel with Lee Zlotoff or the one with Sarah Downer. Also, it was fun to see the teaser of the “writers panel”, since most of them are wearing the striped pajamas that we’ve seen in the Season 5 Finale Episode.

What’s going to happen now? CBS continues airing reality shows Secret Celebrity Renovation (8pm) and Greatest AtHome Videos (9pm) on Fridays; also dropping the Magnum PI reruns on Saturdays. Comparing all Summer Shows on CBS, the current Friday realityshows have the lowest demo-rating (0.28 and 0.27). Overall, all networks are struggling with ratings this Summer, so CBS isn’t doing too bad yet.
It’s worth noting that ViacomCBS is selling a lot of their assets lately. Maybe, them cancelling MacGyver for financial reasons wasn’t as far-fetched as I thought.

Other MacGyver-related News ICYMI: Swiss TV channel 3+ started airing Season 5 on August 20. Every Friday, a single Season 5 episode is followed by an episode of Season 4. Currently, the OG show plus the Reboot are airing on 6 different German-speaking TV channels in three countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). Sadly, Nitro still airs the OG show in low DVD quality and not in the new BluRay quality.
The MacGyver Season 4 DVD was released in German-speaking regions; showing a slightly different backcover than the US version. It was expected, but is still disappointing that this is the first Season on German DVDs without any extras.

What’s going to happen now? Tonight, CBS still has reality shows Secret Celebrity Renovation (8pm) and Love Island (9pm) on the schedule. Out of the three Summer Shows, Secret Celebrity Renovation has the lowest demo-rating (0.27).
Interestingly, there’s still reruns of cancelled show NCIS: New Orleans scheduled for Saturdays. That’s probably the reason why the show hasn’t been wiped off the CBS press site yet (contrary to MacGyver).

What are Cast and Crew up to? ICYMI: Back in May, Lucas Till did an interview with Cine Art Variety which was recently uploaded on YouTube. Lucas talked about the cancellation and how he really liked Season 5 (especially Episode 5×10). He also stated that he would like to do more TV shows, but for guest and/or recurring parts and not as the main character.
There’s no official news yet if The Spook who sat by the Door has been picked up to series, but the hints are there that it did. Writer/Showrunner Leigh Dana Jackson tweeted on July 17:
Of course, it’s still possible that Lucas’ character won’t be involved in the rest of the episodes – but one can hope, right? Today, the FX Network has their press day for the TCA (Television Critics Association), so maybe we’ll get some good news soon. If the show was picked up, it might air midseason or at least next Fall.

Back in April or May, Lucas Till had done an interview with Cine Art Variety. You can now find it on YouTube as well. Lucas talked about how the cancellation has come as a big and sad surprise, but that he doesn’t like to look back and dwell too much on projects in the past.
He talked about how he really liked Season 5 (and especially Episode 5×10) and working action scenes with Stunt Coordinator Daniel Hargrave. He also revealed that he keeps the notes with his lines he wrote down for memorizing and makes them leather-bound to give to his parents.

When asked about funny BTS stories, he talked about Episode 3×04 (Guts + Fuel + Hope) and the “zipper problem”. Lucas stated that he would like to do more TV shows, but for guest and/or recurring parts and not as the main character. That way, he could work on his acting skills while being able to enjoy it more; especially with having less pressure when not being the lead actor yet still having sufficient financial security.
Levy Tran has already started working on a new project called “Secret Headquarters”; a movie project from Paramount and Jerry Bruckheimer, starring Owen Wilson. It’s set for a release date of August 22 next year. In an Instagram Story on July 15, she promised us lots of action. She’s also been announced as the lead actress in “The Silk Road”; a film slated to be filmed next year.

Other MacGyver-related News As Deadline reported, director David Von Ancken, who also directed the Unaired MacGyver Reboot Pilot, passed away July 26 after a two-year battle with aggressive stomach cancer. He was only 56.
In other news, the German company Koch Films is still working to put a BluRay box set of the Original Show together. Original Murdoc Michael Des Barres hinted at doing an interview for the box set. There’s no release date yet.

Starting in August, the MacGyver Reboot will be available to stream on IMDbTV (presumably US-only).
Swiss TV channel 3+ will start airing Season 5 on August 20 (Friday, 8.15pm), followed by an episode of Season 4.
The release date of Lucas Till’s movie Son of the South in Germany was moved from August 5 to August 26. For now, the DVD/BluRay-Release is still set for September 24. Also, the German Film and Media Assessment (FBW) awarded the movie with a seal of approval; functioning “as a cinematic pointer for today’s events and developments. To find out what has happened and to learn what must not happen anymore.”
Upcoming DVD release dates for MacGyver Season 4 are August 4 (Japan) and August 19 (Germany, Austria, Switzerland).
